Panties for Africa: Underwear is a Basic Need

Feb 10, 2024 | Support

Tari Ngwerume from Tari Designs in Simon’s Town grew up as an orphan in an impoverished community where she and the other poor girls had no underwear.

Tari founded Panties for Africa, an organisation which aims to supply girls between the ages of 4 and 13 with panties. They want to enable these girls to participate freely in school activities and live with dignity. Since the project’s inception in 2020, Panties for Africa has reached more than a thousand children.

Join Books on the Bay in making a positive impact on the lives of these young girls by donating panties at the festival. Collection bins will be at all the venues.
