Books on the Bay is proud to announce that internationally renowned Margie Orford will offer a once-off Masterclass at this year’s festival. Having established her reputation as South Africa’s ‘Queen of Crime’ with her Clare Hart series (which is about to have a continuing life on film), Orford has branched out with The Eye of the Beholder, a psychological thriller about sexual violence, power and perception, which has been longlisted for the Dublin Literary Award. She will be launching her memoir at Books on the Bay entitled Love and Fury (Jonathan Ball) in which domestic attachment, artistic aspiration, and feminism collide in a searing account of what it takes to commit to a life in writing.
The theme of the Masterclass is “Writing the Body.” Some of Orford’s reflections on the subject can be found here and here.
